I don't think that we should have a whole mechanic for each country. But I do feel like perhaps we should have a good bunch, that are split among two or three countries.

But what will be mechanics for Feld?

I am thinking for Feld, we take a real mechanic. That color combination has a lot of enchantments. Perhaps we can use Constellation?

We could have five separate groups (not necessarily in the lore, just in the design) which each contain one mono-color, two guild colors, one shard color, one khan color and one four-color (and each group would probably be that four-color). Then we just assign a mechanic to each of those groups and make it so that the countries within each group share enough characteristics that the mechanics make sense.
We might also want a few mechanics that are just all-encompassing and don't have any color restrictions.

Well, I came up with a mechanic that would fit well with the "many colours" theme and could be a general mechanic without country specifications. It's extremely work-in-progress right now and the card it's based around would be a token similar to that of the monarch. I can't find any programs that let you make a token like that and it's a test concept so I'm not making a fancy edited graphic for it, especially considering that I have no idea how to word it. Here's a vague design demonstration thing:
It isn't really a land, obviously, but MTG Design demands that you give it a card type of some sort. Also, yeah, it really needs a better name. Assorted other cards in the set would have effects like "Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn. If the color wheel is on green, that creature gets +4/+4 until end of turn instead." Once again, that's only an example.
For reference to what I mean by "like the monarch" then here's the monarch token. I mean that it'd probably be formatted in a similar manner in terms of border and name placement.
Any and all contributions, even those just telling me it's a terrible idea or that it seems too much of an un-set-mechanic, are welcome.

While I like a roulette mechanic, it is too un-set, I would say this would function like a Legendary Artifact, but I don't think it should be in Dumaran

Fair. I'll repurpose it for my own works or run it past others and see if I can make it into a mechanic that's less un-set. Actually, the move away from un-set-ness will probably happen regardless of whether I bring it back here or not..

Well, I invented a less roulette and "Sorry, you'll have to wait another four turns for your card to do fancy things" version on the fly. It's still pretty un-set-ish and I still have no idea how to word it until I do some serious formatting work. It's probably still useless as an idea, but it's worth asking what it's missing:
In this version of the card each player would be able to control their own color wheel and I'm uncertain as to whether the wheel's buffs should be universal or only for your creatures. Buffing everybody would be more interesting as you'd actually have to consider what you're doing if any of your colors overlap with those of your opponent (which would be relatively common considering that the set seems to be many-color-centric) but it would also be less of a modern-day-magic kind of thing (hark back to the slivers of old).
Also worth noting that this version discourages mono-colored play using it because the wheel would be useless every other turn in terms of creature-buffing. I'm not sure that it matters outside of mono-colored aggro and I'm not sure whether that's for better or worse.
As a side note (and reverting to self-employed doomsayer mode), we really need more people working on this. It'll probably fizzle sooner or later otherwise.
